Hey Guys! My name is Kayla Koontz and I am your other team leader. Yay!
So I call Bristol, Indiana home but honestly my heart lies in the nations. Missions has played a huge part of my life. I have been on quite a few short term trips inside and outside the states. 2 of those trips were to Kenya and they were probably the ones that impacted my life the most. First time to Kenya was with my church youth group my senior year of high school. That was the trip that God broke my heart for street kids. I can't stand all the injustice that happens to them. I am not a person that is easily angered but that just sends me over the edge. I hate it and I tend to have tears in my eyes as I talk about it. So I will apoligize in advance for all the crying ha! My second trip to Kenya was with AIM. I was a part of the 2011 spring semester Real Life team to Kenya. I also lead an ambassador team in the summer and then I just got home 2 weeks ago from leading the fall semester passport team to Uganda. So I really havent been home for the past year.
I have always loved Indian culture but I never thought that I would actually go. I have spent a lot of time in Africa and I love it! Africa holds a very special place in my heart and I thought that was it for me. That I would be moving to Africa and staying there but God has other plans. During my 2nd trip to Kenya was when God started talking to me about India and this summer was when he told me that I needed to lead a passport team this spring. When I found out that the trip was going to Calcutta it pretty much sealed the deal(mainly because Mother Teresa has been a huge inspiration). I am so excited! I just don't know what else to say. I am ready for a new adventure!
Honestly... missions is my heart. It's who I am. I just love it and I can't imagine doing anything else. I can usually spend 2 weeks in the states before I am ready to get back out there. So I can't wait to meet you guys and to start our ministry in India!
